Typically when your dentist identifies dental problems related to crowding, spacing, rotation, or bite relationship, they refer you to an orthodontist. While an orthodontist is always an option, Dr. Petroff offers our patients the opportunity to stay under her care and continue to manage their oral health by offering Invisalign™ as a teeth-straightening option. Invisalign™ is a system of nearly invisible, removable trays, or aligners, that you change every few weeks as your teeth move into their desired position.
Dr. Petroff recommends Invisalign™ because it lets her patients continue their current lifestyle. Brushing, flossing, and eating all remain the same. The removable aligners provide her patients with the flexibility to take them out for special occasions or professional events. Her patients don’t experience the gum and mouth irritation other teeth-straightening methods can cause. And most importantly, daily oral hygiene is easier as you continue to brush and floss your teeth the way you normally would, thus reducing the risk of possible plaque buildup and tooth decay.
Your orthodontic treatment time can be up to 50% shorter with Invisalign™ than with braces, depending on your individual needs. You only need follow-up appointments approximately every 6 weeks to check that your progress in on-track.
Usually, you need to visit a separate dental office for orthodontic services. But, at the dental office of Dr. Petroff, Invisalign™ is part of the comprehensive dental care we offer. What a great feeling it is to know Dr. Petroff can coordinate your Invisalign™ appointments with your regular checkups and any other services you may need or want. If your plan for your smile includes cosmetic dentistry, she’ll discuss how that can fit in with your Invisalign™ therapy, as part of your overall treatment plan.
Dr. Petroff will be happy to fit Invisalign™ for you and your adolescent children.
